Basement Gallery Oakland Presents
Danielle Schlunegger
Closing Reception Friday April 6th, 7-10pm Basement
Gallery Oakland is proud to present an immersive hands on solo
exhibition featuring the work of Danielle Schlunegger and The Marcus
Kelli Collection. “As a
naturalist, Marcus Kelli traveled to some of the most overlooked places
in the world to collect and preserve what may be considered the
strangest species previously unknown to science. He searched for
specimens in places many of his professional colleagues disregarded
because he preferred to consider himself a driven amateur who never
overlooked anything. After his first extended expedition to the Island
of Thule, Marcus settled back into the Americas during the westward
expansion. He passionately collected and studied from the world around
him, playing an integral part in reshaping the American landscape along
with the other Naturalists of his time. “ (Excerpt from The Naturalist;
the Curious Collections of Marcus Kelli by Danielle Schlunegger) Exhibition on view through April 6th, 2012 Open by appointment (510) 917-2230
